Description

Casale Bigerna is an old stone farmhouse whose origins are lost in the history of the rural past life, when the lower floors of the houses were shelters for animals while the numerous families of several generations lived on the upper floors of the buildings. The restoration of the farmhouse has kept certain features intact, such as the niches of the horse mangers in the living room and the ceilings with exposed wooden beams.
Casale Bigerna is a family home, handed down and lived in with love, cared for down to the smallest detail, which gives it an extremely special atmosphere and hospitality, because you enter a house where you can breathe history. You will find ample equipment of an excellent standard to make your stay comfortable, and at the same time, reminders of the past and the history of the farmhouse, valuable furniture that has belonged to the Bigerna family for centuries, combined with local antiques and ancient and more recent furnishings with which the family has enriched the farmhouse over the years, opening it up with confidence to its guests.

On the ground floor you will have a beautiful glass veranda with a panoramic view of the garden and the possibility of heating it during the cooler times of the year. Here you can organise your dinners with pizza prepared in the old wood-burning oven and open the comfortable windows to enjoy the fresh summer air.
The green space, completely enclosed, offers a splendid panoramic swimming pool (size m. 10x5, depth m. 1.20-2.10 - open from 01st May to 30th September) for your exclusive use, equipped with sunbeds and gazebo with table and chairs. In the middle of the greenery is a swing for children. In summer you can spend memorable moments under the gazebo with a good glass of the renowned local red wine, the scent of the plants and flowers in the garden and a starry sky to keep you company.

In less than 1 km you can reach Trequanda with a short walk. The small centre in the province of Siena is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Tuscany in terms of landscape. Situated on the border between the Valdorcia and the Crete, overlooking green valleys of gentle rolling hills, interspersed with vineyards, olive groves and magnificent views, it retains all the characteristics of medieval villages that preserve the charm of the past in their stone alleys, churches and palazzi. The village offers an excellent restaurant and everything necessary for those who wish to avoid using the car and enjoy a moment in a timeless space. It will also be easy to venture out on day trips, both to the famous nearby towns of San Quirico, Pienza and Bagno Vignoni, which offer excellent restaurants, trattorias and shops selling typical products of all kinds, as well as to destinations such as Siena and Florence, which can be reached in about an hour.

Interior description

MAIN HOUSE
GROUND FLOOR: entrance from large glass-heated veranda with wood-burning oven and equipped for eating outside, kitchen-dining room with fireplace, large dining room suitable for dinners with family and friends, and bathroom with shower. Access to the FIRST FLOOR either by internal wrought iron spiral staircase or by typical external staircase, living room with study corner and double sofa bed, double bedroom with single bed and private bathroom with Jacuzzi. Internal staircase leads to the attic floor, with mezzanine overlooking the living room and double bedroom with extra single bed.

HOUSE 1
Entrance on FIRST FLOOR reached by an external staircase onto a spacious living-dining room with open plan kitchen and a French sofa bed. Internal stairs lead down to the GROUND FLOOR where there is a double bedroom with French window overlooking the garden and a bathroom with bath and shower.

HOUSE 2
GROUND FLOOR: Entrance on living-dining room with kitchen corner, double bedroom and bathroom with shower.
